Autobiography (of sorts)
You may know a lot about me already. Over the years, I have made much Internet noise and shared a plethora of information about myself and my odd perceptions. If you have been in jail or buried under the inland ice, or for some other obscure reason haven't heard of me, here is a quick resume:
I was born shortly before midnight on June 1th — I am on the wrong side of 30, in case you were wondering.
My mother wanted to call me Maylis, thought better of it, and in lieu of a better idea, I was named after a friend of hers, who had passed away (I blame an unnatural morbid perspective on life at large on the fact, that I was named after a dead person). I have been called many names since, some of which I won't mention here out of sheer courtesy, but my friends call me Annika von Holdt for short.
I reside in Denmark, a small country where winters are long and summers are rare treats, which can be found on a map to the far north. I have been married to a tall dark-eyed man for nearly a decade, and I am blessed with a beautiful little boy, who recently celebrated his fourth birthday.
I am ceremoniously educated, but I never worked in the field in which I was trained. I spent nearly a decade working as a fashion model in New York, Milan and Paris before moving back to Denmark. I published my first book in 2001, and I have primarily been working as a writer since. I swirl a paintbrush on occasions, as well. In fact, I am mostly known in the digital sea for my Photoshop brushes, web site design and art. But I am a writer by heart and soul. First and above (almost) all else, I love words.
In 2002, my debut novel, Haunted, was followed by The Nighthour — for this endeavor, I received a literary award, touched down on the bestseller lists, sold the film rights, and was hired by the producer to write the screenplay. Following the publication of The Nighthour, I have mostly focused on writing screenplays.
I took two years on "hiatus" in connection with the birth of my son in 2004, hence the lack of recent literary activity.
At the current moment I am back on track, working on a new novel. Look for it soon...
